Our goal is to help 1 million kids over the next 10 years achieve a more successful educational experience.
Once upon a time...
…a very dedicated EKC employee was working on a project at a school in his community. He noticed that even though it was the middle of winter and pretty cold outside, many of the children entering the school were without jackets. Thinking of his own children, he called his wife and they went to work.
Unfortunately...
…this isn’t a fairytale… it’s a true story, and a reality many children in our communities are experiencing for themselves. For Emily and Chris Shafer, it was something that couldn’t be ignored. What started with bulk shopping trips and donations to local schools has grown into an organization that strives to serve every school district and student in need in the state of California, with 100% of every donation going back to the kids. When children have all of the supplies and clothing they need, they are able to focus on their education. With enrichment activities like field trips on the schedule, school becomes a place where students are engaged and excited to learn.
No child should be left behind because they don't have the resources to succeed.

What We Do
EKC Kids provides resources to schools throughout California for students who would not otherwise have access to them in order to help them have more successful educational experiences.
From basic school supplies and seasonal clothing to school speakers and field trip funds, EKC Kids is dedicated to delivering the types of resources that will encourage children to focus on their studies, discover new passions, and simply enjoy being kids.
